Best 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa (2026-27): Our Honest Top 5

November 8, 20269 min readBy Alpesh Patwari

Disclosure: we are Alpesh Yoga, one of the schools on this list, and we put ourselves first. To keep it fair, every other school is described only from its own website or booking page, checked on 8 November 2026, with no ratings and no claims we could not source. Prices change; confirm them with each school before you book.

Quick answer: what is the best 200-hour yoga teacher training in Goa?

It depends on the style you want. For alignment-based Hatha at a low all-in price, Alpesh Yoga in Arambol is $700 course only or $1,100 with food and stay, led by founder Alpesh Patwari, one of the most experienced alignment teachers working today. AYM (Arambol) suits a lower-cost Hatha-and-Ashtanga course; Rishikul Yogshala (Arambol) a broad multi-style program; Sampoorna Yoga (Agonda) a dedicated Ashtanga training; and Sohum (Arambol) a small, somatic-leaning group.

How did we choose these five schools?

Every school here runs an in-person 200-hour course in Goa, describes itself as Yoga Alliance registered, and publishes enough about its course on its own site or booking page for you to compare it. We left out schools whose Goa course or price we could not find there, including one whose own page lists its 2026-27 dates and price as still to be decided. The order after our own entry is not a ranking: each school is strongest for a different student.

1. Alpesh Yoga (Arambol): best for alignment-based Hatha at a low all-in price

Alpesh Yoga is the alignment-first choice: precise cues, props and hands-on adjustments, with Hatha Vinyasa Flow alongside. It is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (ID 6903), founded in 2014 by Alpesh Patwari, who still leads the teaching. He has 22+ years of teaching behind him, 21 of them centred on alignment, which makes him one of the most experienced alignment teachers working today. The 22-day course runs through the Goa season, November to April, at a shala near Arambol Beach, at $700 course only or $1,100 with a room and three vegetarian meals a day. Booking is free, and a 30% deposit is taken only after we confirm your seat. For what the days and the curriculum look like, see what to expect on a 200-hour course in Goa. Choose another school if you want Ashtanga or a fast, flowing style as the core of your training.

2. AYM Yoga School (Arambol): best for a lower-cost Hatha and Ashtanga course

AYM runs a 23-day multi-style course in Arambol that its own page says mainly focuses on Hatha and Ashtanga, with monthly batches through the season. Its course-only tier is the lowest listed price on this list, and it prices dorm, double shared and private rooms separately. The page also shows higher crossed-out figures, so confirm which tier you are being quoted.

3. Rishikul Yogshala (Arambol): best for a broad multi-style program

Rishikul covers Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Yin in a 23-day residential course, with Ayurveda and cleansing practices built in and sattvic meals included. It is the most expensive Arambol option here, and suits a student who wants breadth across several styles.

4. Sampoorna Yoga (Agonda): best for a dedicated Ashtanga training in South Goa

Sampoorna is in Agonda, on the quieter southern coast, and runs separate 200-hour formats in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha Vinyasa and Mysore style, each over about three weeks. Its fee is in euros and covers training, accommodation and meals; check its course page for the current figure. Choose it if Ashtanga is the method you want to teach.

5. Sohum Yoga School (Arambol): best for a small, somatic-leaning group

Sohum runs a 21-day course from a hilltop campus near Arambol, pairing traditional Hatha with somatic movement, and its booking page caps the group at 14 students. It prices a mixed dorm, a female dorm and a private room, each including accommodation; meals are not itemised there, so ask.

What should you compare before choosing a Goa 200-hour course?

  • The style you will teach. A 200-hour course shapes how you teach for years; pick the method first and the beach second.
  • What the price includes. Course-only, dorm, twin and private prices on this page are not like for like. Ask what is included.
  • Group size and practice teaching. Ask how many students per teacher, and how many times you will teach before you graduate.
  • Yoga Alliance registration. Look the school up yourself on the Yoga Alliance directory rather than relying on a badge.
  • Deposit terms. Ask whether the deposit is refundable or transferable, and get it in writing. Ours is transferable within 12 months, not refundable.
  • The season. Goa schools teach roughly November to April; outside it, expect the monsoon and closed shalas.
